Our professional development framework


Personal and professional development is an integral part of our workplace. Every quarterly review we’ll help identify courses, mentoring, training, and project opportunities to grow your professional development and career pathway 


We also run informal ‘Lunch and Learns’ for teams and individuals to share their recent learnings and professional insights with the rest of the workplace. Past topics have included: an introduction to data modelling from our Data Science Teamoptimised brand tracking from our Research Team, and design and writing advice and best practice from our in-house Creative and Content Team.  


As part of the Clemenger Group collective, our staff can also participate in group-wide learning sessions via the Clemenger University programme, which invites members from across the organisation to share their expertise. 

Talent programme and internships


Perceptive participates in the Clemenger Talent Programme, a nine-month, fixed-term employment opportunity for individuals looking to launch their career in the marketing and communications industry. What makes this programme unique is that it is open to everyone—even if you don’t have a degree.

In the first three months of the programme, you’ll work with and across the Clemenger Group agencies, gaining valuable experience and understanding of a range of fields, from media buying, public relations, creative projects, market research and more. You’ll then move on to a six-month placement at one of the Clemenger agencies.

Perceptive perks


We’re a social team complete with a social club and regular Friday afternoon events. When in the office, employees can enjoy our professional coffee machine and barista services for their caffeine fix, along with an open bar, on-site massages and meditation room.

However, we also believe in healthy work-life balance, which is why we offer flexible hours and flexible working between the office and home.


As part of the Clemenger Group, our staff can benefit from group-wide employee programmes, from nutrition seminars and mental health workshops to culture awareness and mindfulness training. We also have a free confidential counselling service with EAP Services Limited to ensure that you have the support you need for your mental health as well as an inclusive parental leave policy of 20 weeks for primary carers and 4 weeks for secondary carers, regardless of gender.

“I started with Perceptive in 2012 as a Research Consultant; my role was to look after research projects from start to end. We were a small team then so we had to do a bit of everything. Over the years, I progressed through to a Senior Research Consultant, then Head of Research and later Head of Insights until I eventually took the General Manager role in 2019.

Rachael Weaver

"I joined Perceptive as Research Consultant in 2014, which involved moving my family up to Auckland. At the time, the team was only around four of us. Two years later I moved into a Senior Consultant role after taking on more responsibilities and running larger accounts. By 2018 the team had grown considerably and I became the Research Manager. As I was new to management, Perceptive put me through the Leading Teams Programme with Fraser Buchanan with a number of other upcoming managers across Perceptive and the Clemenger Group. I learned so much on that course and truly don’t think I would have half the management skills I have now without it. The course also created a great bond/network to lean on and ask advice whenever I need it.

“In 2019, my title changed to Head of Research to better align with the responsibilities I have in running Perceptive’s largest team. One thing that has been especially rewarding in my current role is helping other Senior Consultants and in my team begin their own management journey and having juniors report to them."

"My journey with Perceptive started when I joined as an intern. Everyone was so welcoming, helpful, and willing to help one another grow which contributed to me feeling supported in my first role out of university.

"With that, I immediately rolled over as a full-time Data Analyst in the CX team. I was extremely nervous when first starting out as I hadn’t seen anything beyond university papers and assignments. However, with dedicated team leaders, regular check-ins, and one-on-one’s about my development plans, I have grown in my role, had so many amazing learning opportunities, gained many new technical skills, worked on various types of projects, and collaborated with a range of diverse people.
